1. The total operated numbers are 9,337 cases from Jan. 1. 1960 to Dec. 1969 for last 10 years.
The total 299 cases were expired in the hosp after operation, so, the surgical mortality rate is
3.2% (299/9337)
2. Total emergency operations are 1,779 cases for the last 10 years, and 130 cases were expired.
The emergency operative mortality rate is 7.3%.
3. Relation between the operation and post op. expired date showed that 50 cases (50/237=21%)
were expired in the operated dat and post op. 1st dat, 147 cases (147/237=61.6%) were expired
within 10 days after operation.
4. The major primary disease among the expired 237 cases showed:
Stomach Ca : 42 cases
Peptic ulcer : 41 cases
Intestinal obs. : 23 cases
Trauma : 21 cases
Intestinal Tbc : 13 cases
Hepato-Biliary disease : 26 cases
5. The Surgical mortality rate of Gastric resection group is 4.9% (Expired 51/Total gastric resec
tion 1032).

10. Autopsy & Pathological study was performed in 149 cases among the total expired 299 cases.
Among the above 149 cases, 14 cases are different from the surgical diagnosis and pathological
diagnosus, and the definite diagnosis of 4 cases were confirmed after autopsy & pathological studies.
